Personal Brand - Fine Artist Portfolio - Sculpture, Installation, and Participation Through the Eyes of Concept Art

About

My name is Beatriz Santos

I’m a conceptual artist who focuses on developing ideas through research, the results of experimentation, and exploration with mixed media. I am currently working with sculpture, installation, and participatory practice.

My work is always close to my essence as a human being, motivated by my sense of justice/injustice, phobias, and problems. It takes a critical view of political and social issues, and I aim to make people think, feel, and reflect. I am motivated by people’s reactions and interactions, and through my work I hope to express my desire to increase the viewer’s feeling of awareness. I believe my work can be used as a weapon because knowledge and awareness are some of the most powerful tools that exist.

Samba

I first discovered samba at the age of 3 while parading with the samba school G.R.E.S Saltaricos do Castelo. Over the years, I've embraced various roles within the school, including baianas, comissão de frente, passistas juvenis and seniores, destaque de carro, and destaque de chão. I officially joined the ala passistas when I was 12.

Since then, I have participated in numerous workshops led by renowned Brazilian artists, such as Evelyn Bastos, Mayara Silva, Mayara Santos, Thai Rodrigues, Mari Mola, George Louzada, Carlinhos, Bianca Monteiro, Kelly Rosa, Ana Filipa Alves, and many others.

I have performed in Sesimbra's Carnaval Parade since 1999, participated in the 2022 London Notting Hill Carnival, and have appeared at various parties and events. Additionally, I have hosted workshops and provided one-on-one instruction.

I'm always open to new opportunities and look forward to continuing my journey in samba.

Pole Fitness and Aerials

I began learning Pole Dance in May 2022 by joining a university society and attending classes at a local studio in Cambridge called Wings. Since then, I've participated in competitions, securing 3rd and 2nd place in the Intermediate category and winning the overall university competition on my own. I've also taken part in workshops with renowned UK pole artists such as Kitty Velour, Peachy Poler, and Baby Rain, and have participated in showcases, including hosting one.

Additionally, I’ve started occasionally teaching beginner and intermediate pole fitness for the ARU university society.

In January 2023, I was introduced to Aerial Hoops and Silks at the Wings Studio. I performed Aerial Hoops for the first time during the Christmas Showcase in 2023.

I am also available for Pole Fitness and Aerial Hoops shows and workshops.
